Our passion for the prickly pear plant & its wellbeing benefits was the inspiration from which stemmed our company Ficurinia
The commitment of Ficurinia, a company founded in February 2017, is to enhance the prickly pear plant in all its forms.
We are based in Augusta (province of Syracuse) and Belpasso (province of Catania).
A deep knowledge of the territory allows us to select the best soils on which the most aromatic prickly pears will grow.
By combining ancient recipes with modern and innovative processing methods, Ficurinia undertakes, through its products of the highest quality, to enhance this ancient fruit by enhancing its beneficial and nutraceutical qualities handed down over time and now widely recognized.

What do we do with prickly pears
Our PDO (Protected Designation of Origin) prickly pears from Etna are Organic. They grow and ripen under the warm sun of Sicily on untreated lands in soil that has unique mineral characteristics. So sweet and tasty that they are named ” the candies’’.
Picked during the early hours of the morning, the prickly pears are transported directly to our laboratories. Here they are seeded, peeled and transformed into pulp, juice and puree.
The seeds, which have previously been separated from the fruit and properly dried, are used to produce the precious prickly pear seed oil known to be the most powerful natural anti-wrinkle in the world, while gluten-free flour derived from the degreased panel is an important source of protein and iron, to be added as a supplement to other flours.
From the flower picking, “Ciuri” is obtained, a liqueur of prickly pear flowers unique in its kind. The flowers are used, as well as for the preparation of herbal teas and infusions, to produce the flowers aqueous concentrate used in the cosmetic industry.
From the fruit processing and drying process developed by the company, the dried Ficurinia fruit is obtained and used, even in purity, as an ingredient for the production of infusion and teas.
From the processing of the Etna PDO prickly pear and the IGP salt of Trapani we produce the Fiurinia prickly pear salt.

Our products are obtained from the processing of Sicilian DOP prickly pears from Etna grown in certified organic soils.
Our organic and traceable prickly pears are processed within 24 hours from fruit pickiyng.
The quality of our products is guaranteed by microbiological tests, multiresidue analysis to validate the absence of contaminants, pollutants, heavy metals, pesticides and aflatoxins.
The plant only processes gluten-free products of vegetable origin.
Our products are 100% made in Italy.
